Rediscovering old favourites | Makeup change up for Autumn

Isn’t it funny. It’s as if as soon as September graced us with its presence my subconscious was like ‘give me all of the change’. I suddenly wanted to smother myself in jumpers, eat warming soups and snuggle under a cosy blanket – the normal things for autumn. One thing I hadn’t expected to happen was a sudden urge to crack out some old products. Not all of them seasonal changes either, there were just some products that I hadn’t used for a while and fancied giving them another go. So here they are.
First up is a very autumnal lipstick shade that I couldn’t wait to start re-wearing once the colder months rolled around. It’s the Mac Liptensity Lipstick in Smoked Almond. I mentioned it in my last post (read that here if you want to know what makeup I wear on the weekend) and I’m totally obsessed with it. It’s my perfect autumnal shade as I don’t like anything too dark on me but this is just slightly deeper than my usual lipstick shades of choice. It sticks around on the lips but isn’t drying and I’d totally recommend trying this range out – I may need to invest in more shades. Another Mac product is the blush in Immortal Flower. This always disappears when summer rolls around but once the warm days are over this makes a reappearance. It’s my perfect blush shade and goes with pretty much every makeup look possible. It’s also impossible to overdo.
Another one which makes a reappearance every so often is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Whiskey. Easy to swipe on for a more natural look I’ve been loving it paired with any of the shades from my Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. It gives me something softer than my usual intense black waterline when I use it (obviously – Β because it’s brown) and at the minute I’m loving using this everyday. Now, we move on to the inspiration for this post, the Sleek Brow Kit in Dark. I haven’t used this in so long and one day I had this sudden urge to give it a go again. I loved this product a few years ago and for a while it was the only thing I used on my brows. After moving on to pencils and pomades I forgot about this little gem, but now I’m so glad its back in my life. I used to go in with the wax then the powder on a brush that was way too big to create anything close to natural brow hairs but after trying it back out again I just use the powder with a tiny little angled brush. I’m so glad I decided to use this again, it gives my brows a slight warmth and soft fullness that nothing else really gives. If you haven’t ever tried this before I seriously recommend it (I’m acting as if its some kind of revolutionary product – it’s not, it’s a brow powder, but it’s a really good one!).

A Little Bit of a Change…

Over the past 18 months I’ve posted every week (other than both Christmases) four times a week and I’ve loved every minute of it. Juggling the blogging writing with university writing has made me become much more organised and has given me a balance to enable me to not get bogged down with uni work. The other night I had a sudden epiphany of how much work I actually have to do and how everyday that goes past is giving me less and less time to complete it in. Now don’t panic, I’m not going on a blogging hiatus altogether, I just thought that it might be best to cut it down to three times a week to give me a little bit more time for my uni work. I’ve also got a bit of a case of blogging block and I’m finding it really hard to come up with ideas for posts so if you have any suggestions then please let me know, I’m really stuck!

I don’t know how long this three posts a week thing will last but I would imagine in maybe six months time when I’ve finished uni and graduated (hopefully providing I don’t screw things up at the last minute!) I’ll be going back to four posts and then take it from there!

Fat Cats! (take two)

Change in the schedule!

I just couldn’t stay away for longer than a couple of weeks before going back to the restaurant where dreams are made, well that’s slightly over dramatic. I thought that although I really liked what I had last time I went, to have more to talk about in this post it would make sense to try something new!

For my main I had the Fat Cat Burger with curly fries. The burger was a standard beef burger with a cheese, bacon, onion and mushroom sauce on the top. I really liked this dish but I don’t think it was as good as the pork I had last time. The burger itself was tasty but it was a touch on the dry side, however paired with the sauce and the sweet bun moistened it up. I felt that the burger need more sauce on it though because there was only a little bit on top of the burger inside the bun. Overall it’s not my favourite dish in the world but it was quite nice and the flavours were very good.

As you can see from the picture I couldn’t part with my amazing friend mr cheesecake. This time the flavour was the same but the berries that were on top last time were actually inside the cheesecake. It made a nice change but I preferred the plain cheesecake because I’m not the biggest fan of berries like that inside things (I know, bit weird). It was still as good as ever!

Let’s Talk: House To Flat

It’s finally come…SECOND YEAR! It seems like forever since I packed up my little room in central Nottingham and headed back home to ‘return to normal life’. Now I’m back and ready to paaaaaaaaarty, which has already happened as I’ve been back two weeks now. It feels really good to be back, I mean I do miss home sometimes (mainly the food and sky box facilities) but I like being able to cook for myself and spend time with my friends who I haven’t seen in aaaaaaaaageeeeeees!!! I thought I’d just share some pictures of my NEW ROOM in my NEW HOUSE (exciting isn’t it!). I tried to be all artsy and cool with the close ups but I don’t think it worked, enjoy!
