What I Got For My 21st Birthday

The past few weeks have just been birthday crazy, and I’m not complaining! I thought I’d do a little ‘what I got for my birthday’ so in a few years I can look back and see what I got. Disclaimer: not all of my presents will be mentioned so if you are someone that got me something don’t be offended it your gift isn’t mentioned. I have the worst memory so I’ve most likely forgotten some but don’t worry I have appreciated all gists (especially the alcoholic ones, even though the outcome wasn’t great).

I’ll start with one of the most useful presents which was a black clutch bag. For my three years at university I’ve had a small leather clutch bag which I use on every night out. It’s okay but it’s literally the size of a largish purse and I needed something bigger so I’m really excited to take this out and be able to bring the kitchen sink out with me! Something to add to my ever expanding footwear collection was some fluffy Mickey Mouse slipper socks with bobbly ears, so cute! One of the most emotional presents I got was from my cousin, and when I say emotional lots of tears were shed. She got me a bracelet from Disney Couture and it’s a silver bangle with ‘Only an act of true love will thaw a frozen heart’ on it which is a quote from Frozen. I couldn’t hold myself together, it’s just so thoughtful and cute! In terms of fluffy creatures I got a grey dog who’s soft and squishy and I’ve called him Rough (Rough? Ruff? I’ve never had to spell it before so it could be either!). One thing I’m really excited to try out is my new cake pop making kit. I got a stand with it as well so it’ll be easy to decorate them. Sticking with the baking theme I got a £20 voucher for Lakeland which I’m so excited to spend. I got many things from my mum and dad but the two ‘main’ ones, if that’s what I’m going to call them, were afternoon tea (a post about that will be coming tomorrow) and a weekend away to a place of my choosing so any suggestions would be much appreciated because I’m useless at thinking of things like this! My brother got me an amazing disney game called Pictopia which I would really recommend. Once you get your head around the kind of random rules it’s a great game to play!

Lash out of the Lipsticks

Time for the lipsticks! I was never the biggest wearer of lipsticks but over the past 12 months I’ve built up a nice little collection so let’s get going. First up is my Kiko Smart Lipstick in 902 Pastel Pink. I bought this whilst I was in Barcelona in the summer and I’m so glad I did. It’s pretty much the same as my natural lip colour so when I put it on it’s a my lips but better kind of thing. It was super cheap (just €3) and is balmy and lasts a decent amount of time on the lips. Next up is the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 28. This was the first lipstick that I ever bought because I thought it would look good on a night out. It’s not a matte formula but I’d say it’s 90% matte with a little bit of shimmer and not as drying. I don’t wear this that often but when do I wonder why I don’t because it gives a pop of colour that is really flattering. The second lipstick I ever purchased was the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Heather Shimmer. I bought this thinking it would be a good nude but it’s quite a bit darker than my normal lips. It takes me quite a while to apply this as if I do a ‘one sweep’ motion it goes on a bit too dark and looks like a crayon, weird I know, so I have to use a lot of coats to dab it on. However, when it’s on it looks really nice, a bit Velvet Teddy-ish, the only problem is that it doesn’t last too long on the lips. Another nude in my stash is the Rimmel Lipstick in Pink Nude. I’d say that this was more coral than pink but it’s a really good lipstick. The colour is flattering, similar to the Kiko one in terms of application and lasting power. The only thing that lets this down is the fact is has quite a pearly finish and sometimes looks a bit strange on the lips. Last but not least is Mac Shy Girl Lipstick. This is such a beautiful coral colour that sits nicely on the lips. This is my go to smokey eye lip as it looks gorgeous. The only problem with this is if it’s not dabbed on it can look a little streaky. The winner of this is a tie, I just can’t choose, between Kiko and Mac. I use them both so much as they are both beautiful colours with my favourite type of formulas.

My Wish List

I never normally have much of a christmas list but this year to make it easier for my mum I went through the catalogues and jotted them down. Here’s my list!

  • Urban Decay Vice 3 palette
  • Mac gold and beige pigments
  • A baby Sven (from Frozen)
  • Pointless Quiz Book
It’s not a very extensive list but it’s a start! Merry christmas!

Letter To Santa

Dear Santa,

I hope 2014 has been treating you well and that you’ve got all of your stuff sorted out for Christmas. This year’s not been too bad for me, thanks for asking, but it’s now even better because it’s nearly CHRISTMAS! Normally I don’t make a Christmas list because I like to not have any idea what I’m getting so they’re all surprises, but this year, to help out my mum, I made what I think was a good comprehensive list with different things that went with peoples price ranges. So, without further ado, here’s my list:

  • Urban Decay Vice 3 palette- because I don’t think I’ve ever seen something more colourful and shimmery in my life.
  • Mac pigments gold and beige- because the gold glitter needs to get on my lids ASAP
  • Baby Sven- because Frozen.
  • Pointless quiz book- because one day I will win a pointless trophy
I can’t wait for you to come for a visit and I hope everything goes smoothly!
Love Abz
(P.S. Hope the Reindeers are excited too!)
