Beauty Haul | Charlotte Tilbury, Too Faced and Nip + Fab

I’ve said this already recently but I need to stop spending money on beauty. But then again there’s so much I want to buy! One shopping trip later and I have a nice selection of products, some I’d planned on buying and others that were more of an impulse buy. I’ve given them all a go over the last week so here are my first impressions and how I’m feeling about them so far.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara | I love this mascara, it’s really good. Back in the day I wasn’t a fan of a plastic brush but now it’s definitely what I’m drawn to when I want to pump up the volume. This one gives me length and volume and doesn’t flake off or end up down my face at the end of the day. If you’re in need of a new mascara and haven’t tried this one before I definitely recommend it.

Nip and Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Plumping Mask | Gonna be real, this isn’t what I wanted. I should have taken a picture of the thing I wanted to buy to make sure I got the right one but I didn’t, so here we are. I wanted to get a full size of the serum that I got in my Glossybox Advent Calendar but forgot it was the serum I wanted and picked the bottle that looked the most like the smaller size. Mistake, but hey ho I’ll just need to pick up another bottle of the real stuff at some point. Anyway I’m not mad about it but after a couple of uses I really like this product. It’s very much like the serum but doesn’t sink in as quickly. It says you can use it as a ten minute mask or overnight and I think it’s going to be more of an overnight thing for me. Giving me an extra boost of hydration.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish in Fair | Look at this. It’s so stunning. After my Laura Mercier powder finished about 12 months ago I’ve never really found anything that’s stuck so I thought I’d give something a little bit high end a go. I can’t give it a proper review but so far so good, I’m really enjoying using it. It’s so soft and buttery and does a good job of setting my base. I’ll keep you posted on how I’m getting on.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect | I have a couple of the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks and although I liked them back in the day, they’re a bit drying and I don’t get on with the formula anymore. So I thought I’d give one of the K.I.S.S.I.N.G ones a go because they’re a creamier formula. I was also in the market for a peachy nude so Bitch Perfect was the perfect option. I am IN LOVE with this. Like seriously. I’ve used it everyday since I got it and it works with pretty much everything. I think it’s going to be my new favourite.

Starlight, Satin Sheets, Pink Sand, Pink Wink, Sunny Bunny, Tropic Like It’s Hot, Bitch Perfect

Too Faced Natural Face Palette | I’ve been looking for a face palette for a couple of years but nothing has really jumped out at me. Usually the shades are a bit too dark for my pale skin. But this one from Too Faced is probably my perfect palette. The shades can work day to day, with the Sunny Bunny bronzer being a fab match, but then I think it will also be fab when I’m a bit more tanned on holiday. I’ve put it to the test over the week and I’m obsessed. The formula is fab, the highlights are gorgeous and they just work so well.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

I did it. I took the plunge and bought my first ever high end foundation. Exciting, scary, and my purse did not thank me for it. I thought I’d write a little bit about my experience buying the foundation and my overall thoughts. Let’s start with the TORTURE it was to buy this thing for my face. Okay, slightly over dramatic but it was quite scary. The Too Faced Born This Way Foundation is £29, nearly triple the price of my other foundations, and once you buy it that’s it, no take-sy back-sies, it’s yours whether you like it or not. The Too Faced counter in the Debenhams in Nottingham never has anyone working on it, near it, within a mile of it. You’re literally by yourself unless you want to drag someone from another counter over to help you out. I do quite like that in a way because you can browse at your own leisure but it proved difficult when trying to colour match myself. My usual guide is always go for the lightest one, but the lightest one they had instore here was Ivory, what seemed that a medium yellow toned shade. I really wanted this foundation though so I thought I’d see if I could make the colour work. I put a little pump on the back of my hand and put a little bit on my jawline because I’ve heard in the past that that is the place to test the colour of a foundation. I could not see a thing. So I went one step further and covered my entire chin because I hoped I’d be able to see if the colour was right. I literally still couldn’t see. The lighting just made everything seem to be white and I could not for the life of me tell if this would work. So I went outside. Into the busy Nottingham market square to have a proper look. I took photos of myself and was zooming in, I had my mirror out to see if it looked right but I could not for the life of my see it on my skin. I then decided that if I couldn’t see it, the likelihood was that it was my shade and it would work. So, I bought it and I have to say I’m so happy that I did!

This foundation is amazing. From the first time I used it until now I knew it was the one. The coverage is medium-full with it probably being more on the full side. One pump is plenty to do your whole face and a little goes a very long way. My skin has been reacting very strangely to my foundations recently but this just blurs over my face and makes it look flawless, and trust me there are a lot of flaws to lessen. I do have to blot my face throughout the day to get rid of a bit of shine but I have to do that with all of my foundations so that is nothing new. I can’t express how much I love this foundation, it is simply stunning. If you are a fan of high coverage, flawless looking foundations then you need this in your life. It’s made me love Too Faced even more as a brand and I really want to branch out and try even more of their products.

Punch up of the Palettes

Today is not just any face fight, it’s a special birthday face fight! If you didn’t guess my birthday is today and I thought that because palettes are my all time favourite thing this is what I’d put head to head to see who comes out on top. First palette on the list is my Virgin Vie Palette. It is nearly an all matte palette with just one shimmer shade. When I first received this palette I used it not stop, mainly the oranges and the browns. My favourite shade is the shimmer shade and reminds me a little of amber lights from Mac. The most used shade is the light brown as this is what I use to do my eyebrows, it’s a good colour that’d not too light or too dark. Next up is the Sleek Brights Palette. I bought this purely for the fact that I thought this would make a great addition to my fancy dress wardrobe. The pigmentation is insane and there is a good mixture of colours so, especially for fancy dress, you can really do anything. The Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette is next and as you can tell from my multiple posts about it in recent weeks I am in love with this thing! The mix of mattes and shimmers, the shade range and the insane pigmentation. My favourite shade is Sonic, it’s different and colourful but not OTT that you couldn’t wear it everyday. The Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette is one of my most used. It’s a really handy travel size and the mix of mattes and shimmers makes it perfect for everyday or a night out. My favourite shade is push up, it’s a rosy copper which is stunning all over the lid and also works in the crease. Finally it’s the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. My first ‘proper palette purchase’ and it was a goody. Good for a natural day look and even though I’ve had it over a year I’m dying to use it on a night out and see how it turns out. My favourite shade is liar because in some lights it turns from a shimmery brown to a stunning plum/ purple shade. My most used shade is strange, the perfect highlight colour. I can’t pick a favourite but as I said before my most used is Too Faced, but not Vice 3 is making a catch up!

Favourite Friday: Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

Make up isn’t something that I really talk about on this blog but it’s something that I have a serious amount of, especially eye shadows. This week I seem to have been sticking to one eye shadow look which for me is not normal as I change it up on a day to day basis. Something about the colours just scream autumn and they’re soft and easy to blend I’m just seriously in love! This has to be one of my favourite eye shadow palettes ever! I’ve been wearing the ‘classic’ row of shadows, putting silk teddy in the inner corner and halfway across the lid, then push-up on the rest of the lid and then into the crease and finally putting erotica on the outer corner. I just love how metallic it is and when it catches the light it looks stunning.

This entire palette has so many possibilities for beautiful looks and even though I’ve had in since May I don’t think I’ve yet unlocked it’s true potential! Honey pot is a gorgeous glittery gold and I love wearing it with a dark brown smokey eye.
